Heavy wool flannel jerkin with check woollen lining. A very similar version is still offered in Harris tweed, moleskin and serge but with cotton silesia lining. In general it follows the form of the leather trench jerkin worn by my Uncle Jim, who as a corporal in the Pioneer Corps held the distinction of being the first onto the beaches at Dunkirk in 1940.
